In an attempt to better represent myself through my blog, I utilized specific choices in the typography and the coloring. The blue colors are not only my favorites, but they also have design significance. According to the Color Psychology, the blues creates "feelings of calmness and serenity" (Cherry). This reflects my own calm disposition and makes for a pleasant reading experience. In addition, blue is considered a productive color and I consider myself, and by extension this blog, to be fairly productive. The whites serve to compliment the blues, but also have psychological purpose. The whites give a sense of openness and space, which will be filled with information- the blog posts.
The typeset also serves specific purpose. Based on the article Establish a Mood with Typography by Carrie Cousins, the use of a Calibri font in the body of my blog would help to establish a neutral yet formal and modern mood. This is helpful to maintain a clean look to the blog and maintain an air of professionalism. The title font, named Permanent Marker, has a slightly different feel. According to Cousins, this type of font would be considered dramatic and casual. I went with this particular selection in order to show some of my personality and to draw attention to my blog's title, without compromising the feel of the body of the blog itself.
